benefits for your organisation

In addition to attendees benefiting from high quality training from a mental health specialist, potential benefits for your organisation include:

  • Reduced risk of legal action, that may be caused by a lack of organisational measures.

  • Reduced absenteeism due to mental health issues, where colleagues take time off due to their issues.

  • Reduced presenteeism due to mental health issues, where colleagues with issues remain in the office, but are unable to perform to their full potential.

  • Reduced risk of losing staff through attrition, as mental health issues that may have caused that colleague to quit or to be fired can be identified and managed more effectively.

  • Reduced risk of colleagues harming themselves.

  • Improved colleague performance.

In 2020, a report by by Deloitte suggested:

  • Mental health issues cost UK businesses £45 billion each year. This had increased by £16 billion in 2 years.

  • Each £1 invested in supporting colleagues with mental health can provide a return of £5. One of the best returns on investment that organisations will see.

A study by the NHS in 2016 found that 1 in 6 working-age adults have symptoms associated with mental ill health.

It is not always obvious to know who is struggling.

This is more than mental health first aid

The ability to provide Mental Health First Aid, to identify and appropriately direct colleagues at risk, is important.

But, Mental Health Champions need to know more than just Mental Health First Aid.

Our training also covers what organisations can do to:

  1. Reduce the risk of emergency situations arising, through strategies, policies, training, awareness, support and culture.

  2. Helping those colleagues after they have identified an issue, such as their return to work or reasonable adjustments.

You can find more information about the difference between Mental Health Champions and Mental First Aiders on our blog.

Course materials

Attendees of the course will also receive:

  1. A Mental Health Champion pen.

  2. A printout of the slides with space for notes.

  3. A Managing Mental Health Checklist.

  4. A certificate of attendance.

  5. A Mental Health Champion certificate.
